in spite of gravity
Looking out at the white horses on a grey, windy day and trying to look at it all positively. Thinking dismal thoughts - everything falls - but no! Seeing the seagulls inspired this.
Your haiku are always so clever! I like the way if you take the floating line to go with line 1 you can interpret "gravity" as the seriousness of your situation and feeling optimistic anyway, but if you take it with the final line it can mean gravity more literally working against the birds. Nice work
what it would be to be able to fly. at least we can enjoy the magic of watching birds do it so excellently.
A lovely sentiment.
Short, simple, and very inspiring.
Thank you. I thought at first - hey, this is a bit short, but then I thought that its brevity was a good thing.
Seagulls, also, are heavier than air machines. But evidence suggests they can fly. For some reason reading this I flashed back to to my attempt to fly. I put on a yellow T shirt, fashioned a red cape like mighty mouse, and leaped off the end of the couch...bam! Flat on my face.
I did that too! I often tried to fly by jumping off the end of the couch. I thought that if I believed hard enough that I could fly, I would fly.
I learned from that one experience this much at least...the clothes don't make the mighty mouse fly. Nor does singing the theme song "Here I come to save the day! That means that Mighty Mouse is on the way!".....Bam! Flat on my face.
